I started this song in 2019 in the wake of years of refugee crises and observing how a problem in one part of the world ends up creating problems in another. We are all connected in more ways and more deeply all the time. The current pandemic is stark and fresh evidence of that and prompted me to finish it. If we can pull together as a world, we can handle anything.
lyrics
Dust is blowing round the world and we’re breathing in the air
The carbon and the oxygen we share
‘Cause we’re of the same tree, deeply rooted, deeply free
Open up your eyes, we’re all standing there, in
One world
Can you feel a fire raging and the smoke up in the sky?
Waiting for the storm to send a sign?
We all seek an understanding, for diseases so demanding
And no one seems to know the reason why, in
One world
There’s only one world, only one rain
Only one way through the pain
There’s only one sky, only one you and I
Only one world anyway
We’re one world
One World
One World
Balance in the world, all connected, resurrected
Breathing out, breathing in, everything your love reflected
And we live, in one world, one world
There’s only one world, only one rain
Only one way through the pain
There’s only one sky, only one you and I
Only one world anyway
There’s only one world, only one rain
Only one way through the pain
There’s only one sky, only one you and I
Only one world anyway
We’re one world
One World
One World
