about

When I quit work and went back to school to get my PhD, I sold most of my music equipment and guitars, even my sheet music, and told myself I was putting it all away to take my engineering career seriously. And I did. But I eventually discovered I couldn't put the music away, because it's inside me and has to find a way out. I sad without it. I finally did, much later in life, and it's been a wonderful reacquaintance. This song is an apology to that music in me. But, Better Late than never.

lyrics

BETTER LATE

I knew you well when I was young
And we got through some serious stuff
Floating upon a rickety ark
Then taking it down, to tear it apart

I’ve walked through a lot of weather, and
I'm losing the ones I will love forever, but
Honey, we’re together in this line
Better Late than never,
Better Late than never,
Better Late than never,
And just in time

Remember the day I went back to school
Sold my guitars, turned my back on you?
It was the only escape that I could define
To get out of Dodge, and out of my mind

I’ve walked through a lot of weather, and
I'm losing the ones I will love forever, but
Honey, we’re together in this line
Better Late than never,
Better Late than never,
Better Late than never,
And just in time

I was just a lonely boy from nowhere
Looking for the light I used to know there
But let’s not go there

It’s Better Late than never
Better Late than never
Better Late than never
Better Late than never, time to go
Better Late than never, and right to show it
Better Late than never
And just in time
